Starting a Recycling Program for the Community

Your recycling program is a chance to get your community involved. River Valley has the answers and ability to help you along the way.

Contact River Valley

You will need to contact us with program requirements. To start your community program, River Valley will place one of our visually pleasing containers in a highly noticeable and accessible location. This will ensure that people will know where to take their material and help with promotion of your program. The greater the visibility and the accessibility of your container the greater the success rate for your recycling program.

Inform the Community

You will need to make sure the information gets to your community.
This information will include:

  • Contact Information — Name and Number
  • What Materials are Accepted
  • Where to drop off the materials

Participation and Education

Education and participation are the keys to a successful recycling program in any community. You will find less material that is not accepted and your program will be more efficient.

Community Program Pickups

Your container will be serviced on an on-call basis. The paper that has been collected will be weighed and your organization will be paid for that material. The collected paper is then taken to our plant to be processed, by separating it into the different grades. Once the paper has been separated, it is sent to various paper mills.
