Newspapers are publications that include information and advertising, typically printed on paper called newsprint. Newspaper is continually being made from recycled newspaper. This is due largely in fact to everyone pitching in to increase our recycling efforts and decrease our human footprint on the earth.

  • Almost 73% of all old newspapers are being recovered and recycled.
     
  • The average newspaper now contains nearly 30% recycled fiber content.

The energy saved in recycling on ton of newspaper saves three tons of wood pulp. It saves 3,000 kilowatt hours of electricity or 23% of the energy required to process a ton of newsprint from new pulp.

  • 500,000 trees have to be cut down to produce the Sunday newspaper each week.
  • If all Newspapers were recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees every year.
  • The amount of wood and paper we throw away each year is enough to heat 50,000,000 homes for 20 years.

  • Odor Remover — Stick in your shoes and boots overnight.
  • Garden Mulch — Spread out paper and water. It discourages weed growth.
  • Fire Starter — Roll up and use as kindling.
